Magnesium Nitride is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula Mg3N2. It belongs to the cluster of cubic crystals. At the temperature of room, pure magnesium nutridide is a yellowish-green powder but magnesium nitride with an element of magnesium oxide impurities is grayish white.

The magnesium nitride's molar mass is 100.95g/mol. Density is 2.712g/cm3. Magnesium Nitride is completely dissolved in water and acid, but is dissolvable in the ether and ethanol.

The melting point of magnesium nitride can be found at 1500 degrees. Magnesium Nitride, along with other metal nitrides, reacts water to form ammonia. Sometimes, it is used as catalyst. They react with acid or nonmetallic oxides to form ammonium salts and magnesium salts.

How to Make Magnesium Nitride?
